From mid-March to late April the maple woods give us delicious, sweet syrup. An hour’s drive takes us into Lanark County to a working sugar bush, Fortune Farms, in production season. The “Kettle Boys”, old hands who are animators, will show visitors how maple syrup is made and explain the culture and customs of the sugar bush. Itinerary

Drive from Ottawa to Fortune Farms, Wolf Grove Road, Lanark County. Time at site is approximately two hours and includes walk through the trails, First nations, Pioneer and modern syrup demonstrations, animators’ performance, tasting.

Added meal option is one hour, before or after sugar bush visit. Maple-based brunch menu at Wheeler’s Sugar Bush (same owners), just 15 minutes away. Add $60 for this option plus meal chosen.
